Shottr is the canonical budget answer in every CleanShot X thread on r/macapps: annotations, pixel measurement, OCR text grab and scrolling capture in a 2MB app tuned for Apple Silicon.
It was built by a designer who wanted speed above all — screenshots open for markup in milliseconds, and the keyboard-driven workflow is faster than CleanShot's for pure annotation work.
Free for casual use; the $8 licence unlocks everything. It skips video recording, which is the main thing CleanShot still holds over it.
