About Thunderbird

Thunderbird has quietly become good again. Since the Supernova redesign the interface has been steadily modernised, and the old power-user features — filters, multiple identities, extensions — never left.

It's the obvious choice for anyone who wants a serious, free desktop client without a subscription or a vendor mining their mail.

MZLA, a Mozilla subsidiary, develops it in the open, funded almost entirely by donations. It's still less pretty than Spark, but it does more and costs precisely nothing.
